Wei Li is Professor of Economics at the Cheung Kong Graduate School of Business (CKGSB). Before joining CKGSB, he was a professor at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and then the Darden School of Business, University of Virginia. An authority on Chinese economy, business, and financial sector development, Mr. Li’s research focus is on economic development, taxation, financial markets, and the political economy in China. His work has been published in academic journals and books, and some of his research results and commentaries have also been featured in Foreign Affairs, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, and on CNNfn (CNN Money) and Bloomberg TV, as well as in Chinese media. He currently publishes a monthly China business conditions index (BCI) based on firm-level surveys in China. He also provides consulting and executive education services for multinational and domestic corporations. His clients include IBM, Ford, Timken, Carl Zeiss, China Mobile, Yueda Group, the World Bank, and government agencies. Mr. Li holds Ph.D. in economics from the University of Michigan.
