H. Hocking Cheng is currently responsible for Aetna’s strategic growth and business operation in Population Health in the Asia Pacific region. As a global leader in healthcare industry, Aetna provides information, tools and affordable health solutions that help employers, governments and consumers around the world make the best choices for health care, this includes global coverage insurance solutions, and population health management solutions. Mr. Cheng is also Chairman and General Manager of Aetna (Beijing) Enterprise Management Services Co. Ltd., Aetna’s fully owned subsidiary in China, providing integrated health information technology and population health management solution in the country.

Mr. Cheng came to Aetna in 2006 from Ernst & Young LLP, where he managed its Merger & Acquisition Transaction Advisory practice in health care industry across the U.S. He also participated in large M&A transactions in the Asia Pacific region. His clients included leading private equity firms, managed care companies and prestigious health care enterprises in the U.S.

Mr. Cheng is an executive council member for China Medical Insurance, a professional health insurance magazine with the largest circulation in China. He is also frequently invited to speak at both trade conferences and educational forums, including Chinese Insurance Regulators’ annual meeting, Harvard Business School and Harvard School of Public Health, about health care industry issues.

Mr. Cheng holds an MBA from the Sloan School of Management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where he and his team were selected as the Robert P. Goldberg Grand Prize winner at the 15th annual MIT 50K Entrepreneurship Competition. Mr. Cheng also earns an MS in Health Science & Technology from Harvard Medical School, and completed his hospital management internship at the Massachusetts General Hospital.Mr. Cheng finishes his medical school at Shanghai JiaoTong University Medical School, and participated in creating Shanghai Children’s Medical Center, one of the first joint venture Class III hospitals in China.
