Li Hongwei, Deputy Editor-in-Chief, Global Times English edition, People’s Republic of ChinaFrom 2009 to 2011, Li worked as a reporter, editor and Deputy Managing Editor of the English edition of the Global Times. As a reporter, Li published a series of feature stories on sensitive and controversial topics such as petitioners, Tibetan situation, marginalized groups, and political salons in China. He was in charge of the paper’s front page as an editor before he was promoted to Deputy Managing Editor. From 2003 to 2008, Li worked as editor and reporter of Global Times Chinese edition, one of the most influential Chinese newspapers on world news with a daily circulation of 2 million. He covered the Athens Olympics in 2004, the Muslim immigration issue in Europe in 2005 and the election of Japan’s Prime Minister in 2006. He was awarded The L.Z. Yuan Fellowship in Media and International Affairs by the Asian Foundation in 2007.
