Curd Vandekerckhove (°1965) joined the Bekaert Group in 1989. He started his career with the company as a Total Quality Management (TQM) consultant. In 1991, he was selected by the European Commission to attend their 18-month Executive Training Program in Japan. Curd Vandekerckhove then has taken up several management positions in Asia for Bekaert. Over a 13 year period he was based in Tokyo, Kobe, Singapore and Shanghai. He transferred back to Europe in 2004, to become the General Manager of Bekaert Carding Solutions and subsequently of the Bekaert Sawing Wire activity platform. These two positions brought him to Asia on a very regular basis. In 2012, Curd Vandekerckhove was appointed Executive Vice President responsible for Asia, and he became a member of the Bekaert Group Executive. He is stationed in Bekaert’s Asia Regional Headquarters in Shanghai, China. Curd Vandekerckhove holds a Master in Mechanical Engineering (1988) and a Master in Applied Economics (1989) both from the University of Louvain. Having lived with his family in several continents and countries with different cultures, Curd Vandekerckhove values international diversity and experience as a competitive advantage of doing business effectively.
